Conservatives and Republicans are organizing "Tea Parties" across the country and sending tea bags to members of Congress to protest against "President Obama's tax increases" and government spending. No wonder it was them the ones who created the current massive deficit. But the funny thing about this "teabagging" idea is the notion behind it. These right-wing extremists believe that the Federal Reserve should be eliminated! They also seem to hate taxes just for the sake of hating taxes. This is simply nonsense. As real Liberals, we support low tax rates for individuals and businesses. However, the whole notion of "no taxes" is ridiculous. Taxes are necessary. The key is to have a level of taxation that does not stifle free enterprise and economic growth. There is a big difference between being in favor of low taxes and being an anti-tax lunatic. Unfortunately, the latter better describes the views of these conservative groups. There is nothing in Obama's current agenda that could be describe as an extreme tax increase. The proposed tax increases are just a natural consequence of years of uncontrolled public spending, a misguided foreign policy, an unnecessary war and an irresponsible Republican administration.
