      Choice on health care

We believe in pragmatic solutions to health care. Currently, the U.S. government spends more on health care as a percentage of the GDP than any other country in the world (including those with universal coverage), and yet we have more than 45 million people uninsured. We believe this is unacceptable. Ideological rigidity, both from the right and the left, has prevented any kind of action to solve this problem.

We believe the federal government should guarantee access to affordable health care for the most vulnerable in our society, but we also believe that individuals, not bureacracies, should be able to choose their doctors and hospitals. We oppose any kind of mandatory universal system, but we do support universal access to health care.

It is in this middle ground where we will find the solution to the current health care crisis. People should be able to choose their doctors and hospitals, but, at the same time, government should implement a system that helps those who can't afford private insurance.

With more market competition and governemnt action we can provide high-quality and affordable health care for all Americans. It is time for action.
